The Musician’s Most Important Skill
I can't believe I'm giving this away. This is a trade secret. Its part of the musicians code. I'll be hunted down by the union for this one Makedrumworkers... If I disappear after you read this, sound the alarm.
So this post is about what to do when things get tough. What to do the day after a late night at a gig. If you're tired, you may not feel like getting on your drums and practicing. Big mistake. Even when you don't feel like it, you got to keep going and you've got to practice. How do you get the drive to go on? Well sit tight and watch the video and I'll let you in on the Musician's Most Important Skill. It may surprise you.
If you're picky you can use ground coffee and if you're feeling extra adventurous you can grind your own beans. This makes a great tasting coffee. But if you're tired and despearate to get on your drum kit then the last thing you want to be doing is messing around in the kitchen. Instant coffee gives you that quick boost that you're looking for.
Take care because after a big coffee your playing is going to be about 20 bpm faster than usual.
Remember to drink lots of water with your coffee or else it will dehydrate you. If you're playing drums a lot you're going to need to drink lots of water. I almost died at a gig I did once. I'd been out all day in the sun then went straight to the gig. It was the hottest place I've ever played and during the last set I nearly blacked out. Not nice. So drink lots of water!
Here's that recipe again:
1 - 2 teaspoons coffee granules
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoons sugar
Milk
Add all to mug and stir.
Add boiling water. Stir again.
Serve with drum set, bad attitude and a generous portion of cowbell.
Alex.

Linz,
You’re quite right. Although I find that the bread toasts a little unevenly when I put it in the kettle.

Miley,
Your avatar: If you choose that avatar previously to use on one of these sites:
* WordPress.com
* StackOverflow.com
* Ohloh.net
or for your own wordpress.com blog then it will be the default choosen for all wordpress blogs. Provided that you entered the same email address.
If you want to change it, you’ll have to remember which site you set that avatar, visit it and change your settings.
Hope that helps. Of course it could also just be a completely random event.
Also: see what your mum thinks about Linz’s addition to my recipe.
